| Memorial Service for the Fallen Neránians who gave their lives at The Stand at Weathertop There will be a short service taking place atop Weathertop in Weather Hills, the Lone Lands to give thanks to The Thirty who stood against The Dark Riders on September 20th, 3018 TA, giving 'Strider' the precious time he needed to get his charge safely from The Shire.
The service will be held at 17:30 (GMT) on October 20th, 3018 TA (June 20th, 2009) and will last approximately thirty moments. Every kinsman and kinswoman is welcome, though attendance is purely voluntary.
If you had relatives or friends among The Thirty, you are most welcome to prepare a speech in their honour. Mythgar will be performing a short speech in rememberance of his father, Balishaf Vorshadir, but anyone is welcome to add their voice to the proceedings.
May their memory never fade to darkness.
(OOC - maybe some of your characters had family members, dear friends or loved ones among The Thirty? Only Balishaf's name has been mentioned so feel free to make things up!)

| For those who will be attending the event, here is a programme:
* Those wishing to attend should meet at the top of the path just before Weathertop 'proper' for approx 17:15 GMT. We'll then clear the area of Crows.
* Service will begin at 17:30 GMT with a short speech from Mythgar.
* A respectfully sorrowful tune will be played (Volunteers please!) followed by Mythgar recounting the 30 names of the fallen.
* 1 moment's Silence will be observed.
* Members are then encouraged to give any small speeches they wish to say to remember the dead, whether it be of a family member, loved one, or for The Thirty as a whole (I believe at least Greylock was looking to do this) ****
* Once we've all said our piece, we will disband - those wishing to "remain at Weathertop for the night" can join me in doing the 'retake weathertop' quest for a little bit of extra fun!
Volunteers needed:
If you are interested in any of the following, please reply below.
Musician: We are looking for someone to play a sorrowful tune (possible elven-sounding?) to last no more than 03:00 using the in-game /music system. If you're talented enough to make something up, please do so, but feel free to use Fatlute.com.
Crow-Clearer: There is a good possiblily the Crow mobs wills respawn during the service. They're quite low level, so we need someone to swat them as they re-appear so as not to ruin the service.
Speech Givers: To add authenticity to the event, it would be nice if some members can give speeches to honour the dead. If you've written nothing in your character bios about family or close friends, here is a good chance to make something up and say they died valiantly. For the record, there were a total of 30 Individuals at The Stand, Balishaf, 24 Men (+ women), 2 Elves and 3 Hobbits. No Dwarf Neránians were in Bree at the time. I will be coming up with 29 names to accompany Balishaf's, but will happy lose any to be replaced by your own friends/family
**** Speech writing: We all saw how dull it got with the Shades' concert when they talked to much. Here is a brief set of instructions for the Speeches.
1. Keep the short, remember not everyone types at the same speed, nor read at the same speed.
2. For each time you enter text in the screen, try to keep it to 10 words of less, for example:
PRESS ENTER TO OPEN CHAT "I would like to thank you all for coming..." PRESS ENTER, TEXT APPEARS, PRESS ENTER AGAIN "To our gathering here at Weathertop."
This stops the likelihood of an overwhelming stream of text.
3. When you have finished your speech, please indicate it with the /salute emote so we know when you are done.
4. If possible, prepare the speech before hand in a word-processing program and split it into sentances of 10 words or less. That way you can simply cut and paste it, one sentance at a time, into the chat.

| Of course you can mate, it'd be nice to see you there! Its all purely voluntary this one, and the RP is pretty minmum - a lot of: /me stands solemly or /me quietly sighs in reflection are gonna be the order of the day unless you have a speech you wanna do! Also, if you wanna be official "Crow-Swatter" that'd be ace | |

| It was approaching sunset on the 20th October 3018 TA when the group arrived atop Weathertop to pay their respects to The Thirty, those that had laid down their lives a month earlier and upheld the name and nature of The Neránians. Mythgar, Argothir, Bellethriel, Greylock, Thorri and Alyhia accended the stone stairs of the ancient ruins of what was once Amon Sûl, taking a moment to take in the emotions that flooded the place. They made their greetings to one another, then Mythgar began the service with a short speech to honour the dead: One month ago, thirty friends stood against The Enemy, One month ago, dark riders descended with murderous intent, And one month ago, many of us lost those close... To our hearts as they sacrificed themselves for us all.
As the ancestral heart of The Neránians lay broken, The actions of these thirty leant aid to our allies; The Rangers of Ithilien. And through their actions the free peoples of Middle Earth, Remain free still.
Shattered but not destroyed, The Neránians live again through us, As you responded when the call was sent out. You my friends, who are The New Neránians You who are the watchers of the roads, You who are the eyes in the wilds, You who are the light in dark places.
While we look to the future, ever-bright, With hope in our hearts and fate in our hands, I ask you all to take a moment to look back, and remember: Those who died for us one month ago.Following this speech Argothir of Gondor played a lamentful and respectful tune upon his lute to guide the spirits of the fallen into the next life, and wash away any dark tidings that might still cling to the ancient ruin. After he was complete in his tune, Mythgar produced a parchment and slowly read aloud the names of all thirty Neránians who went against the Nazgul and were slain: "Balishaf Vorshadir of Rohan Cuthburt, Man of Breeland Daisy Whitnottle of Breeland Mart Thistleway of Breeland Clara Rose of Breeland Maribel of Breeland Baralas of Gondor Appledore of Breeland Robin Twistroot of Breeland Hector Andison of Breeland Dolreth, Elf-maid of Rivendell Michael Twotrees of Breeland Aaron Whitebirch of Breeland Eowulf of Rohan Hedwald Tralrath of Rohan Tom Tenpenny of Breeland Ethelwen of Rohan Elraen of Gondor Finborn of Bree-land Linrandir of Gondor Dill, Stoor Hobbit Anath of The Dale-lands Escbur, Woman of Dale-lands Beowine of The Dale-lands Beleghad of Gondor Cenfrith of the Dale-lands Everbard, Fallowhide Hobbit Ealswith, Woman of Dale-lands Galdir, Elf of Edhellond Hamwise, Fallowhide Hobbit." After this a moments silence was observed and others were encouraged to speak their piece if they wished to, though in the end most wished to just remain silent. Argothir stepped forward and said a few heart-felt words regarding his friend Balishaf and the hope that sprung from The Neránians refusing to be crushed in spirit or in manner. And then the memorial was concluded as everyone had said their goodbye's to the dead, with a final but fitting tune from Argothir and a few rallied cheers from the new generation of Neránians. The friends parted ways then; some to the warms and merriment of The Prancing Pony, some into the dark wilderness and others still remained at Weathertop for a midnight vigil. It was a fitting tribute to great Men and Women.
