Neránian Uniforms

Okay, this has been playing on my mind a little and I would like you guy's opinions on the matter.

Of late I've been thinking about the suggestion given shortly after the kin was founded about a uniform (apologies I can't remember who first mentioned it, I'm getting old )

What I'd like to know is the following:

Do people think we should have a uniform to help give our Kin identity or, should there be no uniform thereby strengthening the idea of us being a secret / unseen force?

If we were to have a uniform, should it be the same for all members?
Should Green Watch and Grey Watch have a different uniform?
What about officers?

Should we not have a uniform per se, but rather a colour-set?

Of course doing so would mean a lot of work for Edhewenar should we want something a little different, and also Rederic if the clothing needs to be dyed?

So what are peoples thoughts?

I personally don't like the idea for more than one reason...

1, i left school a good while while ago!

2, I play LotRO for fun not to be formalised by uniform and made to feel official.

3, we're supposed to be a secret group of ppl who look after Middle-Earth behind the scenes.

4, Surely the uniform thing should be left to the more formal sounding kins like the Bree Guard?

but obviously i will wear one if the other choose to ofc.

I actually really like the idea. I mean theres nothing to restrict us customizing our armour look. I like the idea of having a colour scheme, maybe Green and Grey for all characters? At the minute I currently have Argo all in all Green anyway because it kinda fits what he's about.

I have got another suggestion though. How about we just all wear a certain type of armour (a cloak or something) and dye that the appropiate colours? i.e. Find a grey cloak and dye part of it green. I'm sure there are plenty out there that look good enough.

I share same opinion on this matter as Bellethriel. We had uniforms in my previous kin, but we were militia so that was ok. The Neránians work in secrecy so it's better for us to keep low profile and not being uniformed. Maybe we could have one piece of equipment same, shoulders for example, like christians had little coin with fish on it in Roman times. They were in secret, yet had something barely noticable that signalized for other christians, that the person is one of their own.

My personal opinion on the matter is I would prefer a colour-set rather than a specific uniform. I like the idea that the Neránians could recognise each other by a certain set of colours even if they had never met, a combination that would be too exact that someone could fling it together by chance...

I also really like the idea of a token, coloured outfit piece though, like the cloak idea.

I'd like to get this poll sorted out before Recruitment starts at Kin Rank 5 please guys, this one is pretty much a "founder" issue, which means you 'orrible....er....'wonderful' lot

I voted for a colour Item, but a named crit would be cool too.

We'll be implementing an item of clothing soon (most likely a cloak) which will be dyed (all or in part)

Green for Green Watch
Gray for Gray Watch
And either Green or Gray (personal choice) for Officer Rank and above.

For the three people who did not want to have a uniform, don't worry! You'll only be asked to wear them when you are with another Neránian (Fellowship, Raid, RP Event), all other times wearing it will be optional (so if you dont want to wear it most of the time, thats fine )

I was going to provide 1x Plain Hooded Cloak (dyed) to each new member, but following Gray's suggestion, if we'd like a posh Critted one each, I'll do my best to provide the mats.

This will be coming into effect in 2 days, when the Kin reaches Rank 5.

tbh the plain hooded cloak dyed looks great and costs so much less than mats/crit items and with all the various lvl's of the kin is sooooo much easier too.

But as for named Crit items...Grey's a jeweller...all critted jewellery from lvl30+ is nameable...and i'm a girl and would love a ring with 'The Neranians' on it too...

Just to add the extra spanner, i'm nothing if not a pain in the arse

(normally at this point i'd say something like 'jk!!' but who would i be fooling?)


The cloak is a good idea though and having the same cloak for everyone would be nice too.

I think what we need to do is get a greyish nice looking cloak and then dye part of it green. I'm just a bit stuck for ideas as to what would look good.

LOTRO could do with a visual online database so we could see all this is web-page format.

For people of higher levels (or those who have completed the game) are their different cosmetic outfits at different places around the game (such as some that are level-dependant meaning lower levels couldnt get there to buy them)? or are most of them made / mob drops?

There are outfitters in Rivendell, Celondim, Thorins Hall & Bree, they are none lvl requisite and have some items that are different for each race, however, saying that these items are not the sort of thing u would be looking for imho as it's usually garish outfits for the race and not cloaks.

The cloaks available are either hooded or non hooded as u know but they dye solidly so u can't split the the colours and have part grey and part green etc.

In all my time playing lotro i've never come across a cloak that dye's different colours other than the Cloak of Ancient Ruins which is a chest/boss fight drop from the Rift and is lvl50, the centre back panel of which stays grey looking regardless what the rest is dyed and looks bloody beautiful (i've previously paid 4g just to have one for costume purposes)...

That's all the info i can think of atm for u Myth, but i'll give it more thought and see what else i can remember in this old head of mine.
